Assistant Principal – Safety, Security and Integration 

Internationella Engelska Skolan Eskilstuna is seeking an Assistant Principal Pastoral to lead on  safety, security and integration. The school is situated in Fröslunda, a diverse community with  social challenges and lots of positive potential. Engelska Skolan delivers a school based on three  important pillars, the IES Ethos: 

1. A safe and orderly school environment where teachers can teach and students learn:
   Order, structure and safety are necessary prerequisites for learning and signal respect for the value of education. We are strict in norms of behaviour, but also care for our students in our efforts to  prepare them for success as adults. We call this “Tough Love”. 
2. Command of English:
   English is the “key to the world” and children should learn to command both the Swedish and the English language at an early age. We believe fluency is best achieved through language immersion. Up to half of the education at Internationella Engelska Skolan is delivered  through the English language, by native English-speaking teachers. 
3. High academic expectations and aspirations:
   Our conviction is that every child can achieve success irrespective of social background. This ambition means we support every student to realise their own potential. We are dedicated to supporting students of all backgrounds to become  responsible citizens and acquire the confidence and ambition to do the most with their talents. 

The areas of responsibility for the Assistant Principal Pastoral will be as follows: 

• Lead the school’s pastoral wing: Behaviour, support measures, organization, processes  and routines 
• Lead the school’s safety and security: Cameras, alarms, and other safety measures to  keep the school secure and always protected 
• Lead the school’s Social Development Team: Ensuring the best possible support for our  students through designated specialists 
• Take a leading role on the school’s Student Care Team: Identify socially vulnerable  students early and ensure support measures are implemented that have a positive  impact 
• Lead the school’s community work, including spearheading the municipal SSPF initiative:  Cooperation with the police, social authorities and other local schools and groups • Lead on integration projects through the implementation of the IES Ethos: Drive  initiatives that will have a positive impact on our student body 

Required qualifications, skills, and experience 

• Extensive experience of working at a high level in a school, organization, or community  with social challenges 
• Proven track record of driving initiatives that have a lasting impact in meeting the  challenges 
• Extensive experience of high-level leadership in schools, special schools, “HVB-hem” and  other specialist organizations or support units 
• Supreme ability to develop positive relationships with challenging young people • Extensive experience in working with external support agencies such as the police and  social authorities 
• Extensive understanding of the laws that apply to schools in Sweden 
• Experience of line management, “personalansvar” 
• Total fluency in Swedish/English (written and oral) as necessary for the role
